Kevin R. Conn
Chief Executive Officer/Vice President
Kevin has served as the hospital’s chief executive officer since 1996. He has more than 20 years of executive experience in acute rehabilitation hospitals. Kevin holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Kansas University and a master’s degree in health administration from the Washington University School of Medicine. Kevin is currently serving as president of the Florida Hospital Association’s “Society of Rehabilitation.” Kevin’s vision is for the hospital to be “The Premier Provider of Rehabilitation in South Florida.”

Scott D. Tannenbaum, MD, PM&R
Medical Director
Dr. Tannenbaum has served as the hospital’s medical director since 1995. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and a fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He maintains a private practice within the hospital and is an attending physician at HealthSouth Sunrise Rehabilitation Hospital. He holds an undergraduate degree in biology from Brandeis University and graduated from the University of Miami School of Medicine.

Omaira Diaz Riano, RN, MSN
Chief Nursing Officer

Omaira brings more than 26 years of health care experience to HealthSouth Sunrise Rehabilitation Hospital. She graduated from Barry College with a bachelor’s degree in nursing, and received a master’s degree in nursing administration from the same university. Excelling in her role, she uses her knowledge, training and competency to provide a quality, patient-family centered care environment. Omaira has a comprehensive background in all aspects of customer service, recruitment and retention, regulatory compliance and hospital operations.

 

 

 


Yolanda Helfrich
Director of Outpatient Services

Director of outpatient services since 1996, Yolanda manages outpatient therapy, pain management and home health services. She graduated from New York University in 1984 as a physical therapist and has practiced therapy in multiple settings including inpatient rehabilitation, home health and outpatient rehabilitation. She also has taught at Barry University and University of Miami physical therapy departments.

 

 

 


Cheryl Miller
Director of Therapy Operations/ National Director of Therapy Operations
 Cheryl is a licensed occupational therapist, practicing in the state of Florida since 1984. A graduate of Florida International University, Cheryl is also certified in neuro-developmental treatment and sensory integration. She has worked at HealthSouth Sunrise Rehabilitation Hospital since 1985 and has performed as adjunct professor at Florida International, Nova Southeastern and Barry Universities. Her specialties include the treatment of brain injury, inhibitory casting and splinting, technologies in rehabilitation and NDT.

Joyce Ayala
Director of Marketing Operations
Joyce, an experienced marketing professional, has operated marketing departments in a variety of settings, including acute rehabilitation, acute care, pediatrics, women’s health and rehabilitation. Joyce graduated from Florida State University with a bachelor’s degree in social work.

Ruth Goodstein
Controller

Ruth brings more than 16 years of healthcare financial management experience to HealthSouth Sunrise Rehabilitation Hospital. She graduated from Florida International University with a master’s degree in health services administration and from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and finance.

 

 

 


Andrea Bloomfield
Director of Quality Management

She holds the designation of certified rehabilitation registered nurse and is a diplomate of the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review with a national certification in health care quality and management. Additionally, she is a licensed health care risk manager in the state of Florida. Her background in nursing is diversified, with experience in the fields of physician practice management, transplantation, health insurance and utilization managemen 

 

 


Barbara Dunkiel
Director of Human Resources

Director of human resources since 1999, Barbara has more than 17 years of human resources experience. She is a certified county court mediator and holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Brooklyn College.

 

 

 


Marianna Markiet
Director of Home Health Services
Marianna has been a professional registered nurse for more than 35 years. She received her nursing degree from Queensborough Community College in New York. Her experience began in the acute care setting; however, she has worked in home care for more than 20 years. In 1998 she became the director of clinical services for a mid-sized company in which she helped bring the agency into compliance with state and federal regulations. She also assisted in achieving The Joint Commission accreditation with commendation in 1998.
